Fiji’s Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama has announced the discharge of the island nation’s last COVID-19 patient on Friday.
With this announcement, the island nation which recorded it first case in March has become coronavirus free.
Breaking the news on Twitter, the Prime Minister wrote, “Fiji has just cleared the last of our active COVID-19 patients,”
He also attributed the successful fight against COVID-19 pandemic to “answered prayers, hard work, and affirmation of science”.
In a Facebook video, Prime Minister Bainimarama advised that protective measures are necessary to avoid a second hit.
“To avoid of any risk of a second wave, the healthy habits we’ve picked up the past months must continue,
“Wash your hands, wear face masks if you’re feeling unwell and maintain a safe physical distance from others as much as possible,” he said.
