V FOR VENDETTA
V for Vendetta is a well-planned movie with contents and actions centered on servitude, dictatorship in the hands of political figures. It proved with pictures and action a system of government inflicting its populace with fear and panic through war, outbreak and economic depression.
The movie legend that prefers to be dressed as V depicts what is need in such an authoritarian society. He played the role of an antagonist; as he was deliberately and out rightly against the ruling leadership.
There were two significant events in the movies as regard to ‘breaking the bondage of political injustices’. The first event was the destruction of the building, “DEFEND THE CHILDREN OF THE POOR AND PVNISH THE WRONGDOERS” on the 5th of November. The second event was the calling out the general public to a street walk on 5th of November. These two events were to happen separately on the same day in different year.
The movie, V for Vendetta also enlighten on how the media can be so used to achieve unethical and political evils. However, it also shows the importance of the freedom of the press. The restriction of the press did not only affect the media but also poses a threat to the public. It provided a boring as society; people who are generally exposed to threats, outbreaks among other ill news.
V for Vendetta also proved that practice makes perfect as he continued to practice within his house as there was heavy restriction and limitation to activities and movement. His learning and training manual which is a video cassette of the movie “The Count of Monte Cristo” proves the importance of media, social media and all it contains as important to learning.
The movie, V for Vendetta finally brought out a romantic scene when Evey stated developing feelings towards V. she wished he was “lovable”. V also became emotional about her but he knew he could not offer her love as expected. He wished he could give love as much as he is able to offer death.
How did V’s mask get shipped to families in the state; a system of governance where everything is being monitored?
Who manufactured these masks?
We don’t we have a clear history of V. Though he played his role well enough as an antagonist and he also said about himself, “There is a face beneath this mask but it is not me. I’m no more that face than I am the muscles beneath it or the bones beneath them.”
He also said about himself when Evey asked about his identity:
“Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity is a vestige of the voxpopuli, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose.”
Was V able to solve the problem he set out to put out or did he eventually create hostility and confrontation instead? He left the country without a leader and they were at confrontation grounds with the military. What do you think?
