Everyone dreams of being a legend until it comes time to do the work that legends do.” – Anonymous
My emotion is heightened as I am about to be penning this piece; not because of any other thing, but because the title was scrobbled from what I observed from people closer to me – or even myself. This is because we have all found ourselves in one or or two situations where we have to make decisions that will shape us.
In making those decisions, some people have chosen to tread the path that are simple and comfortable over the ones that are rewarding. Some people have chosen to be complacent instead of being consistent with the process of how they are nurturing and designing their lives. They don’t know that facing life’s challenges should be enduring if someone wants life to be rewarding.
The lives of fulfilling people were once challenged by what they were going through, but these people realised that they have to face the sun so that the shadow can fall behind them. They know that once they face the sun, they are no more feeling the heat, they are waving the heat and it is from that that they will be forging the life they dream, it is in facing the sun that they will be renewing their energies.
Every story that will evoke other people’s consciousness to greatness would be filled with different highs and lows. Those highs are meant to be strengthening the people undergoing the process of greatness by boosting their confidence and make them take steps in alignment to their purposes, while the lows are meant to be sharpening them so that they can leave their fears, flaws and failures at bay. If you are not delighted to stir your life through trials, life will delightfully sap you till you are tired!
There is no life whose its attributions are astonishing that will not be illuminated by unwanted life’s occasions. What simply makes those lives arrived at their desired status is their resolve not to be down by what they are going through, but to be lifted to what they have to be true to. That is why Michel Angelo tersely submitted that: “If you knew how much work went into it, you would not call it genius.”
It is not that Michel Angelo wants to denounce what genius is, what he is just trying to say is that if genius is sculpture, it has to be designed by you. If genius is a paint, it has to be fashioned by you. If genius is a status, it has to be achieved by you irrespective of what you have to pass through. The world you desire will not be yours if you don’t have the desire to fervently and wholeheartedly travel through the world you are right now.
Stop complaining that life has never been fair to you and start appreciating life for the good things it brings across your path. Stop comparing yourself with other people because you have known some things about them: You have to start commending yourself for the steps you have taken to reach the current level you have attained. Gerald Sykes says, “Any solid achievement must, of necessity, take years of humble apprenticeship and estrangement from most of society.”
What it takes to make yourself the person of your dream is that mindset to never loose yourself in the course of discovering yourself. The life you have conceived should never be concealed by what you are going through. You have to do more so that you can become more. Let me wave you good bye with the words of Muhammad Ali where he says that “I hated every minute of training. But I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.’”
Till I come your way next week, see you where champions are found!
